About Us
Our Story | Artisan Teaware: Where Tea Meets Handcrafted Porcelain
"We spent years hunting for the perfect tea leaves, only to realize we were missing half the experience."
It Started with Three Friends & A Pot of Tea
We are three tea enthusiasts who—like many of you—obsessed over the origin of our Oolong and the vintage of our Pu-erh. But during one of our tea sessions, a question arose:
Why do we pour premium tea into soulless, mass-produced cups?
We realized that a great tea session isn't just about taste; it's about the mood, the ritual, and the aesthetic. A finely crafted Gaiwan can elevate the texture of the soup. A beautiful cup can calm the mind before the tea even touches your lips.
China is the Porcelain Capital of the world. We knew the "good stuff" existed—unique, handmade, hand-painted pieces that are one-of-a-kind. But they were hidden.
So, we packed our bags and went looking for them.
A Pilgrimage to the Kilns
Our search took us deep into the heart of China’s ceramic heritage. We didn't just visit factories; we walked the dusty alleys of:
- Jingdezhen (The Porcelain Capital): Where the art of Hand-Painted Blue & White has flourished for a millennium.
- Dehua (Blanc de Chine): Where we found the purest, most translucent white porcelain known to man.
- Longquan (Celadon): Home to the legendary green glazes that mimic jade.
We bypassed the large commercial manufacturers. Instead, we knocked on the doors of small, humble studios. We met skilled workers who may not be well-known online. They have a "Craftsman Spirit" (Jiang Ren) that is rare today.
These masters pour their lives into the clay. They don't just make cups; they give the porcelain a soul (Ling Qi).
Our Standard: 10 Years of Mastery
At Artisan Teaware, we have a clear rule. Every item in our collection must be made by an artisan with at least 10 years of experience.
Meet The Hands Behind The Clay
We are proud to work with masters who have dedicated their lives to a single craft. Here are the souls behind your Tea Set.
Master Lin (林师傅)
The Soul Painter of Jingdezhen
With 35 years of experience, Master Lin sees the white porcelain as a canvas. He specializes in the intricate "Blue & White" brushwork found on our premium Gaiwan collection. He often says, "The brush must dance on the glaze. If the heart is still, the line is straight."
Master Zhou (周师傅)
The Guardian of Purple Clay
Born into a family of potters in Yixing, Master Zhou has an uncanny ability to "listen" to the clay. She hand-pats every Teapot to ensure the density is perfect for breathing. Her philosophy is simple: "A machine can make a pot, but only a human hand can give it a voice."

Master Chen (陈师傅)
The Whisperer of Fire
Master Chen controls the elusive art of the kiln fire. He is responsible for the mesmerizing crackle glaze on our Ru ware Tea Cup series. He spends days monitoring the temperature to ensure every Tea Set emerges with the perfect "Azure Sky" hue.
Why? because porcelain is unforgiving. It takes ten years to master the brushstroke of a lotus flower. It also takes time to control a kiln's temperature to create perfect Ru ware crackle. When you hold our teaware, you are holding decades of muscle memory and dedication.
More Than Teaware: A Statement of Taste
We believe your teaware should serve two purposes:
- The Tool: It must function perfectly—precise pouring, heat retention, and comfortable grip.
- The Art: When not in use, it should be a sculpture.
Placing a hand-painted Jingdezhen vase or a Ru kiln teapot in your living room is a statement. It displays your aesthetic taste to your friends and guests. It transforms your home into a gallery of Oriental beauty.
Every piece is unique. No two hand-painted cups are identical. You are not buying a product; you are collecting a moment of an artisan's life.
